Biodiversity Conservation
Natural History: Conservation Biology and Environmental Management are the key focus areas of this section of the museum. The natural environment of the Eastern Cape is researched with the aim of promoting the conservation and awareness of the regions biodiversity. Included here are contributions to national biodiversity data bases (herpetology, entomology and amphibians), documenting coastal environmental changes, the promotion of the establishment of protected areas, recording palaeontological and archeological finds and establishing links with the public on all matters related to the protection of fauna and flora in the province.
Staff
Kevin Cole: Principal Natural Scientist
Majored in Zoology and Biochemistry, with Honours in Zoology at the NMMU. Completed a Masters degree in Conservation Biology at UCT and started a career in conservation in 1986.
